Strange Bedfellows by Cardeno C

Can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

As the sole offspring of the Democratic United States president and his political operative wife, Trevor Moga was raised in an environment driven by the election cycle. During childhood, he fantasized about living in a made-for-television family, and as an adult, he rejected all things politics and built a highly successful career as far from his parents as possible.

Newly elected congressman Ford Hollingsworth is Republican royalty. The grandson of a revered governor and son of a respected senator, he was bred to value faith, family, and the goal of seeing a Hollingsworth in the White House.

When Trevor and Ford meet, sparks fly and a strong friendship is formed. But can the billionaire son of a Democratic president build a family with the congressman son of a Republican senator? Forget politics, love makes strange bedfellows.

Strange Bedfellows

I am a huge fan of Cardeno C so I eagerly look forward to each new book and I am never disappointed with the stories CC writes. I know this book my not be everyone’s cup of tea and may even seem unrealistic considering it feature a  religious, ultra conservative Republican who is still deeply hidden in the closet and the wealthy son of liberal Democratic parents he lives out loud & proud but in truth I think it is wonderful to see that while people can be polar opposite when you love someone you are willing to find a way to see each others hearts and you don’t ask the other person to change who they are -you work to find common ground so that love has a place to grow. This story starts off hot and heavy and along the way a friendship is born that develops into a deep love that allows both parties a chance to understand where the other one is coming from and allows them to move outside of the mold they have been cast into. In life we may often be born into an ideal set by our parents and family and only as we open our minds to other ideas do we grow into our individual selves, that is what this story is truly about……Ford loves his family and faith but was confused about how his sexuality fit into that mold.  When he meets Trevor he comes face to face with those feelings and has to struggle to find his own path that gives him the love he needs as well as the job he wants because he doesn’t want to lose everything he has work so hard for, and Trevor finds the one person who makes him willing to step outside of his comfort zone. Trevor is the most amazingly strong and supportive person that all of us dream of having in our lives. I can honestly say I love this book and it has earned a place as one of my top 3 favorites books.

Adverse Effects

Saving Caeorleia: Book Two

Dade, human-Caeorleian hybrid and ex-military grunt, doesn’t fit in—not with humans, not with aliens, not anywhere. He’s always on the outskirts, angry, and people aren’t sure they can trust him. When he encounters a compatible tziu named Yaseke, secrets, misunderstandings, and attacks nearly prevent the two from making a connection Dade sorely needs. Even after they unite, Dade and Yaseke face challenges that two newly joined males should never have to endure.

From traitorous council members, to sadistic aliens who plan to sell them as slaves, to meeting a mysterious race of revered aliens called Collectors, Dade and Yaseke manage to stay together—and even rescue two youths related to Yaseke, who’ve lost their parents to the same betrayer.

Someone from Dade’s past is at the root of everything he’s suffered. No way can he let them get away with what they’re planning, but Dade isn’t sure he can stop them on his own. If he doesn’t let go of his isolation and risk the pain letting others in will bring, he’ll never save Caeorleia in time.

I have to say….I adore this 2nd book in the series and I hate that I’ve already finished it! What a wonderful journey Alicia took us on…..Dade and Yaseke are a fantastic couple and all that they went thru together left me breathless and wanting more. I’m so glad we got to understand more about why the 3 guys were changed and what truly evil people will do for power. Love the kids and was so glad that Dade and Yaseke are going to be raising them. Can’t wait to get the next book in the series (Nicklaus just breaks my heart-he deserves a HEA of his own with Fieo). Also hope there will be a 4th book in the series with Chip and Larede????? I thoroughly enjoyed that fact that we got romance, adventure and action all rolled into one amazing story! You did a wonderful job Alicia-Thank you!

Johnnie (Siphon #1)

A Premier lion shifter, Hugh Landry dedicates his life to leading the Berk pride with strength and confidence. Hundreds of people depend on Hugh for safety, success, and happiness. And at over a century old, with more power than can be contained in one body, Hugh relies on a Siphon lion shifter to carry his excess force.

When the Siphon endangers himself and therefore the pride, Hugh must pay attention to the man who has been his silent shadow for a decade. What he learns surprises him, but what he feels astounds him even more.

Two lions, each born to serve, rely on one another to survive. After years by each other’s side, they’ll finally realize the depth of their potential, the joy in their passion, and a connection their kind has never known.

My Review:

Ok….so you need to know when I started reading this story I HATED Hugh and the entire Berk Pride. I seriously wanted to hurt them for selfishly ignoring and taking advantage of ‘the Siphon’—AKA Johnnie. I didn’t believe that there was anyway that he could be redeemed but I had to have faith that CC wouldn’t let me down and would lead me down the path that would enable me to understand Hugh and ultimately forgive him. Thus allowing me to want to see both Johnnie and Hugh together and have their HEA. This is definitely worth the read and it gives you heartbreak but heals the heart and has you cheering for the MC’s. I even learned to like the pride. Wonderful done CC, looking forward to the next book in the series. 🙂

Off Campus by Amy Jo Cousins

With his father’s ponzi scheme assets frozen, Tom Worthington believes finishing college is impossible unless he can pay his own way. After months sleeping in his car and gypsy-cabbing for cash, he’s ready to do just that.

But his new, older-student housing comes with an unapologetically gay roommate. Tom doesn’t ask why Reese Anders has been separated from the rest of the student population. He’s just happy to be sleeping in a bed.

Reese isn’t about to share his brutal story with his gruff new roommate. You’ve seen one homophobic jock, you’ve seen ’em all. He plans to drag every twink on campus into his bed until Tom moves out. But soon it becomes clear Tom isn’t budging.

Tom isn’t going to let some late-night sex noise scare him off, especially when it’s turning him on. But he doesn’t want any drama either. He’ll keep his hands, if not his eyes, to himself. Boundaries have a way of blurring when you start sharing truths, though. And if Tom and Reese cross too many lines, they may need to find out just how far they can bend…before they break.

New Years Resolutions

As one year closes and another starts it is customary to make resolutions. Most people resolve to lose weight or quit smoking. But my resolutions are slightly different:
*** I resolve to be gentle with myself-life has already been very hard on me so I resolve to treat myself tenderly and with much love.***
*** I resolve to accept myself-I have always walked thru life to the beat of a different drummer, my path has always been different from the norm….I always wished for the “ideal life-2 kids, house with a white picket fence”; but my path has led me in a different direction and I have fought it every step of the way. But going forward I resolve to accept that I am always going to be different and it is time to accept me for who I am.***
*** I resolve to love myself-I know that I will never again be a thin, pretty 20 something. I am fat and almost 50. I take steroids at least 3 times a year for my asthma and even though I try to lose the excess weight every time I start losing weight I get sick and end up back on steroids and gain back the weight I lost plus a few “extra” friends. So I need to learn to love me exactly as I am.***
*** I resolve to appreciate my friends more since time and time again they have shown that they love and accept me and are there for me better than some of the ones called family.***
~*~Good-bye 2014 and hello 2015. Much happiness and love to everyone.~*~

CARDENO C BOOK APPRECIATION CLUB

https://www.facebook.com/groups/cardenocbookappreciationclub/

Welcome to the Cardeno C. Book Appreciation Club (CCBA Club).

The Admins are: Eran O’Donnal, EM Hager and Sam Ratcliff.

This club is to celebrate the complete body of works by the talented Cardeno C. We’ll have open discussions about CC’s books from the first release, to the current release, to the not yet released. Each title is sure to come up again in rotation, so don’t be alarmed if you “miss one.” We’ll share our honest opinions about the stories and the characters we all love.

You’ll be expected to “sign” our Code of Conduct and our explanation of our Point System before your request to join will be accepted. (Links to do this will be messaged to you by one of the Admins upon application. CHECK YOUR “OTHER” BOX IN MESSAGES if you don’t see a message in your regular Inbox from Eran or EM within a 2 days of application.)

We expect ACTIVE PARTICIPATION which includes not being silent when something comes up where you cannot discuss a book or answer a poll. Do this by posting in the thread or messaging one of the three Admins. CCBA Club is viewed as a structured club that has fun not just an unorganized social media group. Our current members like the “real feel” of a Book Club that we try to foster through structure and fun.

Due to issues in the past, a POINT SYSTEM has been devised to measure participation and attendance. We want QUALITY over QUANTITY in the members we have. Because we share our feelings about stories that can touch us very deeply, those interested in collecting groups, trolling around or just lurking and reading and clicking “like” from time to time without maintaining expected participation will not be tolerated.

We’ll share release updates and other important information pertaining to Cardeno C as we become aware of them. This group has ONE FOCUS: Cardeno C: the author, the books and the updates. All posts must remain on focus.

Upon the Admins sending out the above mentioned Message to you, you will have 8 calendar days to complete the Code of Conduct and Point System documents; failure to comply will have us ignore your request. If you should reapply and still not comply, you’ll be blocked.

Signed,
Eran O’Donnal, Club Owner/Main Administrator

EM Hager, Club Support Administrator; Point System Administrator

Sam Ratcliff, Club Support Administrator; Graphic Awards/Appreciations and Dynamic Polls Administrator

Lindy & The Wulfen-My Favorite RE Butler book

Favorite RE book

After a devastating blow to her already fragile self esteem, werewolf Lindy Vincent has decided to stop being the pack whore and change her life for the better. With the help of her two best friends, her alpha female, and a feisty she-wolf named Eula, Lindy starts down the road of self-improvement, happy for the first time in years.

Crimson Ta’rek is a Wulfen, a cross between a wolf and a fairy, and the only one of his kind. After casting a spell for his truemate, he finds himself in the Mortal Realm rescuing the she-wolf meant to be his. When someone from his past threatens Lindy, Crimson will show the realm why no one messes with a Wulfen’s mate.

This book contains one Wulfen with eyes only for his mate, a she-wolf trying to start her life over, and the spell that brings them together. Expect plenty of shifting, growling, and neck biting, fairy magic, and gratuitous use of the word “mine.”

MY initial review-posted on Amazon:

I received this book as a gift and at first I worried-would it be to similar to another one of R.E. books “Every Night Forever” which also featured a bad girl gone good. Thankfully that was the only thing that was same. I fell completely in love with both Lindy and Crimson and this is now my favorite book of R.E.’s! I loved the fairy world as well as the brownies, but truly what I loved about these two was that they didn’t hide who they were in the past, the fact that we didn’t have to go back and forth with the should I tell him/her about all of the horrible things I did prior to meeting my mate which made for a much more enjoyable read. They didn’t fight what they felt and embraced the gift of love they were given, so thank you for a very enjoyable read that left me with a smile on my face. Job well done!

Thanksgiving love…..

Good-Bye November 2014-since last week was Thanksgiving here in the USA and it is a time to reflect on all the things we are thankful for, I thought I would mention something I am incredibly thankful for everyday. I am thankful that my parents and my teachers not only taught me to read but nurtured a love of reading. Since I first started reading I have enjoyed being able to just for a moment put the real world on hold and escape into a world that gave me love and hope when sometimes the world I was living in wasn’t all that pleasant. As I grew I moved from fairies and witches to simple romance stories but even that changed from innocent coming of age stories to regal historical romances to Paranormal and Sci-Fi “erotic” romances to my current love of M/M romances that cover modern, Paranormal and Sci-Fi. But no matter what it is I read I read them with a grateful heart that I have not only the ability to read but the ability to find joy and happiness in the stories written on the pages of the book (or in my case e-book). Thank you to my mother and father; and all those teachers and Librarians out there that inspired and nurtured my thirst for books, you will never truly know how much I appreciate this gift you gave me.
